In the recent past, a remarkable shift came into my lifestyle. I decided to stop watching television. In this piece, I will outline why I made such a decision, the outcomes, and whether it’s recommended for you as well. The cessation brought about by this decision doesn’t imply a total blackout from any TV content. Inescapably, there will always be instances where the television is on within our surroundings. Previously, I was an ardent subscriber of Netflix, but currently, I maintain minimal interaction with it, only engaging in a sporadic podcast now and then. Now and then, I channel my time on YouTube being the primary platform I listen to my podcasts. During my transitional stage, I engaged with an iPod Shuffle for a handful of weeks, but eventually ceased to use it. The iPod shuffle could emerge as a potential replacement for watching TV.
What Inspired the Change?
Various factors contributed to my decision to stop watching television. Let’s discuss them comprehensively.
Mental wellbeing: One major reason was due to mental health concerns. The current generation of TV shows can sometimes harbor negative themes that can be detrimental to one’s mental health. Some people argue that they remain undeterred by these programs. However, the harsh reality is, these shows do manipulate your subconscious mind. Watching modern shows often introduces false desires, leading to mental distress.
